Abstract

Consciousness on renewable energies is growing in the country. On its part, Government is pursuing numerous programmes to bring Uganda to the fore in line with global trends. Such efforts include the liberalization in the sector, and such others as rural electrification, as part of its 'Energy for Rural Transformation' efforts. In our zeroing in on solar sources, this article looks at lighting and water heating in particular. Major players are identified as users/consumers, professional advisory services providers, and, importers, part manufacturers and contractors .While those in the last categories are few with a wide variation of sophistication, the need for greater adaptation is observed.
