Thermal Power Generation: Narrowing the Shortage Gap

Abstract

The Government of Uganda (GoU) took a bold decision to alleviate the incessant power shortage through adding on line a 50-megawatt (MW) boost through thermal generation from diesel. This has been timely, given the thwarted Bujagali dam construction timely realization in 2005, arising from negative public opinion of environmentalists and residents in the vicinity.
