GAMA Kampala 2005
Uganda Association of Consulting Engineers (UACE) is planning on hosting an annual
event in the calendar of the Africa-wide association affiliated to the global one,
the Federation of International Consulting Engineers, with the French acronym FIDIC.
This continental one, codenamed Group of Africa Member Associations (GAMA)
brings together national professional and business entities for a such as UACE to
spearhead activities in respective countries.
GAMA, having been organized here earlier on in 1999, is paying Uganda yet another
visit, the last one having taken place in Abuja, Nigeria. Several countries are expected
to be represented across Africa, and, the current President of FIDIC will attend
in person, share in deliberations, update delegates on recent developments, and
contribute to a FIDIC training course.
The Republic of South Africa (RSA) currently hosts the GAMA Secretariat, and big
numbers are expected from there to enrich the meeting, given the background that
the practice and level of development there are a step ahead of many other countries
on the continent. There are indications that the United Republic of Tanzania will also
be represented handsomely at top professional level.
